Please allow me to introduce myself.
I am a writer who stumbled across Human Performance Technology and Improvement. Being involved in this field happened organically; I found that the creativity, collaboration, and change-making aspects of HPT reflect some of my own qualities.
In 2014, I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree in writing. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time seeing the way forward…until I was introduced to the training manager for the company I was temping for. She showed me the wonders of the program she’d completed (including exciting literature), which inspired me to apply to Boise State University’s Master of Science – Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning (or OPWL) program. This same vision inspired me to concentrate on new uses for eLearning and performance improvement.
When you see my headline, it’s understandable to think “this person doesn’t know what they want.” I would counter that because my overall goal, including coaching, eLearning development, and instructional design, is to be a well-rounded performance improvement professional.
This field is about transformation, meaning-making, and personal development, which makes me feel right at home. I am looking to bringing a holistic point of view to the work I do, for the value of everyone involved.
Educating others is also a passion. I’ve worked with Denver’s Lighthouse Writers Workshop as a Youth Workshops facilitator since May 2016, and also with Creative Strategies for Change as a Teaching Artist, educating middle schoolers in vocal arts, culture, and justice. As an e-learning developer, I have also developed multiple modules in Storyline for the education industry.
